WHO?

We are the Molcjans from Caledon, Ontario, Canada.  Tim, Karen, Matt, Emily and Olivia.  Matt is in his first year of university at Bethel College in Indiana (where my sister and her family live) taking International Development with a Ministry Minor.  Emily 16, and Olivia, 8 are here in Kampala, attending Rainbow International School.  Tim is a builder and Karen is a dental hygienist.

WHERE?

We live in Kampala, Uganda and our projects are based in the Banda, Kireka and Kamuli, all on the eastern outskirts of Kampala.  And no, that isn't our house you see, I wish it was.

WHY?

After spending time in Uganda in October 2006 and March 2007 and doing our best to support a school of 200 orphaned and needy kids from such a huge distance, we made the decision to move to Kampala to do whatever we could to help the poor of the Banda slums and other needy area with our own hands.   We have learned how difficult it is to fund and organize things from another country and wanted to be here to build relationships with these kids and their moms as we care for them.  We arrived in July, 2007.

HOW?

We sold our house and downsized to a fixer-upper to enable us to pay our way for at least a year.  We do not ask for or accept personal support and use 100% of donations to directly help the kids and their families.  We have been able to do more than we ever could have imagined in such a short time thanks to so many caring families that have followed our website and are moved to partner with us.

WHAT?

We are involved in lots of different projects from running a school for orphaned and needy children to fixing up and building houses for needy families, giving out microloans, purchasing wheelchairs, distributing mattresses, blankets and mosquito nets, running feeding programs for children, needy mothers and people living with HIV, visiting poor villages and assessing and filling their needs, building a church and school for a nearby town, providing medical care and malaria treatment for kids that can't afford it and whatever else we come across.
